Nardo's Story So Far
Nardo's life in music began as only an 11 year old playing the guitar, with the intention of impressing his peers he didn't really think too much about the impact music had on him. Honestly, he never was incredible back then but he enjoyed it, the passion was brewing, and so was his love for music . Unfortunately, after a few years of playing, his guitar was stolen and so was his passion for music - though it obviously wasn't the end.
Proceeding into High School a music taste started to formulate, after a long time of listening to anything and everything, specific genres started to stand out. Listening to Hip Hop, Grime and even R&B started to become a regular routine on the way to school every morning, with said influences coming from the way he grew up with his family and then the gift of your boys putting you onto music. Although he was finding all this new music he started to realise he wasn't digging enough.
2018 was the year the change came, he became indulged into music and felt the anticipation of an album dropping which had never been thought about too much before. He went from listening to certain songs from albums that were "blowing up" to doing full album front to back listens, gaining an interest into how music can collectively become a story. With an interest in movies spanning across his whole life, he realised the connection between music and film. The way both arts encapsulate emotions and storytelling inspired him, he wanted to be able to express himself this way too. With huge albums like Astroworld - by Travis Scott, Swimming - by Mac Miller and many many more to name all releasing in 2018 he lost himself in the music, and felt the need to catch up especially after 13 years of only listening to singles or short projects it was time to delve into the world of music.
Music and film were not his only interests, capturing memories and beautiful scenery through photography was an automatic hobby for him, especially since 2018 where he received a Canon Camera for his birthday. Photography was special as Nardo hated that people couldn't see the beauty of the world which he see's and from that stemmed his love for capturing these moments of life.
Fast track to 2020, lockdown begun and Nardo was stuck inside with no school and minimal hobbies to find enjoyment in. YouTube became a constant in his routine watching videos to do with almost anything, but then one day he came across a video which spiked his curiosity, it was called something along the lines of "Start Making Music Now" and of course he watched it and then from that he downloaded a demo version of FL Studio where he would practice making drum patterns and all sorts. At the time it wasn't really sticking, he didn't know if he wanted to produce so it only stayed as a hobby - never getting past the initial learning curve until years later.
2021 was the year he became Nardo, after gaining a passion for writing by listening to albums such as To Pimp a Butterfly he knew that becoming an artist was his path. Nardo at the time wasn't much of a perfectionist and thoroughly enjoyed the process of writing to a beat (found on YouTube) and then recording it - avoiding the elements of production as luckily a school friend was a producer. Each song he made felt like it had the chance to blow up, blinded by the ego high he didn't realise he was purely a beginner. A few tracks were released to SoundCloud, but as time went on he realised he is so much better than what these tracks portray.
Time passed, 100s of songs had been written and most were recorded - but he still wasn't where he wanted to be, he knew something was missing. However, each song was always better than the last a visible improvement was there and he even started to learn how to mix songs for himself. He saved up for months and bought his first DAW - Logic Pro. This is where everything changed.
in 2023, around the time he bought Logic, he finally decided to try out making beats again, but this time Nardo was going to get past this curve. After months of learning and a lot of practice, the music he would make began to change, higher quality sounds, better mixes and a greater knowledge of how to express himself all came into play. There was one problem, the fun in making music was fading as it wasn't how it used to be. Due to doing his own production, many faults started to terrorise his process, as now he wasn't just a beginner as an artist but also a beginner as a producer.
With time the young creative found his formula, and production became more simple to him, as did writing songs, he is no longer the 14 year old playing about on FL Studio.
Now in the present of 2025, Nardo is still experimenting his sound getting closer and closer to the key by the day, he may not be ready for fame or success yet but given time all will fall into place. Photography is still a huge part of Nardo's art and it alway's will be, but it will most likely be nothing more than a passionate hobby.
